Two decades of learning rooted in place

Over the past two decades, Kumudzi has evolved as a space for hospitality, eco-learning, community engagement and rural enterprise, and is now being repositioned into a university-linked living laboratory.

The Centre connects academic institutions, researchers, students, development partners, private-sector actors and local communities in generating practical solutions to development challenges.

Ideas, technologies, policies and development models can be co-created, tested, refined and prepared for scale in partnership with communities.

At the heart of this work is the belief that rural areas can be centres of high-technology innovation and sustainable development, and that academic research should deliver practical improvements for local populations.
